Hopalong & Second Chance Animal Rescue (Oakland, California 94602) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to eliminate the euthanasia of adoptable animals throughout Northern California.
Since its founding in 1993, Hopalong & Second Chance Animal Rescue has collectively saved over 16,000 animals, placing them in loving, permanent homes. They also provide spay/neuter services, animal advocacy and humane education in schools and in after school programs, and community outreach on the benefits of spay/neutering and the critical need for animal adoption.
From the rescue’s office in the East Bay, CA, hundreds of volunteers and a small staff work tirelessly with shelters to rescue animals at risk of euthanasia. They take a multifaceted approach to finding permanent, stable, and loving homes for their rescued friends: the animals are fostered in a home environment, evaluated for temperament, and many receive basic training to make them better companions for the people who will ultimately take them home.
