NY Feral Cats (Clayville, New York 13322) is dedicated to the sterilization of feral cat colonies in New York State using a method called Trap-Neuter-Return otherwise known as TNR.
TNR is a full management plan in which stray and feral cats already living outdoors are humanely trapped, vaccinated, and sterilized by veterinarians. Kittens and cats that are able to be socialized are adopted into good homes. Others are returned to their familiar habitat under the lifelong care of volunteers, unless NY Feral Cats is able to find accceptable placements for them.
TNR is the most effective means of stabilizing population, controlling rabies, and protecting human health. TNR is also the most cost effective. Having the cats euthanized requires taxpayer dollars to pay for intake, housing, handling, feeding, killing and disposal.
